The Children's Center

Sabal Palms Health & Rehabilitation’s pediatric unit, The Children’s Center, is uniquely designed with a child’s needs in mind. Our extraordinary staff lead stimulating, therapeutic and educational programs in a nurturing and home-like environment. Located on an extensive senior living and health care campus, children are given the opportunity to easily participate in activities with residents. Embracing all generations helps to create meaningful interactions between youth and older adults.

From complex medical care needs to assistive technology, The Children’s Center offers a wide range of services that support the growth and development of infants and children.

• 24-hour on-site staffing of pediatric nurses and respiratory therapists
• Physical, occupational and speech/language therapy
• Educational opportunities available through transportation to local schools or through the “Hospital/Homebound” program
• Outpatient therapy (patients who do not stay overnight)
• Playroom with aquarium
• Family support
• Overnight accommodations for parents

Every patient enjoys ample room with a window view, as well as a dedicated space to store personal treasures and supportive equipment, as needed. All of our ceilings are decorated with hand-painted murals of inspiring outer space and underwater scenes.

Children can attend Sabal Palms Health & Rehabilitation’s full-service on-site school that’s tailored to their educational needs or public school in the community. The Pinellas County School system provides specialized teachers who develop Individualized Education Programs for patients from 3 years of age.
